End of an Era
Real Salt Lake has officially started to move players. Here is a look at what has happened so far.
Soccer by Ives first reported that Fabian Espindola and Jamison Olave are headed to New York. In addition, Will Johnson is headed to Portland. The report says these signings will clear over $1 million in cap space and bring back over $500,000 of allocation money.
This morning Salt Lake declined options Kyle Reynish, Paulo Jr., Emiliano Bonfigli and Jonny Steele. Reynish and Paulo could technically resign after round 1 of the Re-Entry Draft, though that seems unlikely with both players. Reynish’s replacement has already been identified as Tampa Bay Rowdies standout Jeff Attinella.
Salt Lake also announced Chris Wingert and Tony Beltran have been resigned for the 2013 campaign.
“I’m really excited,” Wingert said. “I’ve said all along that Real Salt Lake is where I wanted to be. I love all the guys on the team – it’s been a great 5 1/2 years for me here and I’m looking forward to being here in 2013 and beyond.”

Update 1
RSL just announced that Justin Braun has been dealt to Toronto FC for Aaron Maund. Maund joins a young core of RSL centerbacks and will provide depth now that Jamison Olave is gone. The big value of this trade was moving Braun and his six figure salary. Finding a needed fourth centerback on a rookie deal was just a bonus.
